Victories for Toyota

They have had a very good solid start to the league and looks like this could be their year.

This month’s round of the Mortimer Toyota league saw some stunning results with the sponsor and Toyota Automark teams pulling off some outstanding victories.

The Mortimer team were drawn against the much fancied 4 Must get Beers and surprised all with a major upset by garnishing 7 points.

Mention must be made of the fact that Stuart from the Must get Beers was so determined to play against Ryan, that he even tried to bribe the officials.

He was heard saying how he would whip, drill, smash and with many more adjectives later, take the points off Ryan.

Well according to very reliable sources, Stuart’s game plan did not work out as he hoped, as Ryan playing a very solid cat and mouse game with the antagonist, whilst holding the upper hand.

As the game neared its finale, Ryan being the true sportsman, gentleman and man of compassion, felt a little sympathy for his opponent, and let him win the last hole to halve the match, and for foe Stuart to save face.

Now I’m sure Stuart has a different version of events, but when I have a few hours to spare and if the money is right, I might listen to his side of the game.

The Toyota Automark team after a stern talking to from the manager, pulled off the shock of the day when they took a full house off Cloverleaf Titans.

Wayne of the Rough Riders continued his good form from Saturday when he and Murray (a number of our lady members could not believe he turned the big 60 during the week) ran out comfortable winners.

Martin, Gerry, Thokozani, Wynand and Leon all had big wins over some more fancied opponents, which just shows that anything can happen in match play.

The Scorpions hold a slender lead over Mortimer Toyota, Rough Riders, and Neal’s Tyres, and there are a number of team that are still in the running.

THIS WEEKS PROFILE: MORTIMER TOYOTA
The team has been together for a number of years and is regarded as one of the most settled combination in the League.

They are on most occasions, a difficult side to beat, and when they are on song, as the Must get Beers discovered on Sunday, they are very dangerous.

They offer a wide (or at least two of them) variety of options, and a number of different styles of play that complement each other.

Ryan has the lean sporty look with John catering for the more subtle family sedan kind of guy, while Wynand sports the rugged 4×4 look, and their workhorse Leon the ever reliable Hilux bakkie.

They have had a very good solid start to the league and looks like this could be their year.
