Businesses battle for sporting bragging rights in the George Adalis Football Tournament

Their competition is normally on the supermarket shelves and it is all about best prices… however, on Sunday the competition was taken to the sports field where teams battled it out for supremacy and the bragging rights to the first George Adalis Football Trophy.
Organised by the indomitable Shaun Hendriks of Charlies SuperSpar, the football tournament brought together Mbube Security (the only non-retailer), Pick n Pay, Shoprite and Charlies SuperSpar who faced off at the Oval.
Spar beat Shoprite 4-0 to go through while Mbube knocked out Pick n Pay to set up a Mbube/Spar final.

Try all he could, Sizwe Cebekhulu in the Spar goal had to acquiesce to the security guards who took the trophy 4-3 on penalties.
Shaun was pleased that the tournament brought together players and families from the businesses in a healthy, fun environment. “Watch out for more of the same,” he concluded.
