Bowls Business League rolls up to the halfway mark
There have been some keenly contested games, with a few surprise results causing some major changes on the leaderboard. Defending champions and generous sponsors, Pick n Pay, skippered by Jan de Lange, now proudly fill the number one spot thanks to two good wins.
THE weather once again cooperated for the business league on Tuesday evening with two games of 10 ends played per team.
There have been some keenly contested games, with a few surprise results causing some major changes on the leaderboard. Defending champions and generous sponsors, Pick n Pay, skippered by Jan de Lange, now proudly fill the number one spot thanks to two good wins. The Pick n Pay team of Theo, supported by Herman, did exceptionally well in the absence of Bert-Jan. There are still four games left, so all to play for. Build It, also previous winners of the league, with Soon Moolman at the helm, enjoyed a significant improvement from seventh position to second, and Dales van Heerden, captained by Alta de Kock, climbed five places from eighth to third.
So much for the winners…
On the losers’ side, Pro 5, led by Alex Wood, had a very narrow defeat to the Musketeers, consequently dropping to fourth position.
Don’t underestimate Pro 5 and the Musketeers to bounce back. LMS Brokers, skippered by Henry Klofta, drew their second game on Tuesday evening, dropped two positions to seventh. Beware PnP, of LMS Brokers – they have the best shot difference and are well positioned to take the top spot.
Two points are awarded in each game for a win, one point each for a draw and the shot difference is the difference between the number of shots of the winning team and the losing team. Interesting that no team has won all four games. For the teams at the bottom of the leaderboard, without your participation, there would not be the winners. The fun, laughter, and enjoyment experienced on the green make you guys winners.
The well known saying goes, “For when the one great scorer comes to write your name, it is not whether you won or lost, but how you played the game.”
