Reviving sport in rural areas

The Department of Sport & Recreation hosted a ‘Rural Sport’ event over the weekend in Ladysmith.
Sporting codes such as football, netball, rugby and athletics were played on the Kandahar Avenue sports ground and LHS sports field. The aim of the event was to revive sport in rural communities and also find talent in those places.
At the official opening, teams had the opportunity to go on parade with their banners. Acro Sports LASEC Flying Camels entertained the youngsters with a display of slick moves and high jumps at the official opening.
The youngsters who participated not only enjoyed playing sport, but also meeting new people from different areas in Ladysmith, making new friends in the process.
