Doubles League squash winners court success
This was the first year the club introduced seeded doubles along with the mixed doubles league, and it was a huge success.
On Friday (October 18), the club held its Doubles League prize-giving.
It thanks all the participants who once again made this league a success. The squash club also thanks sponsor, LJL Mining, which ensured the winners received generous meat hampers consisting of beautifully vacuum packed lamb – two sheep in total.
This was the first year the club introduced seeded doubles along with the mixed doubles league, and it was a huge success.
Mixed Doubles:
The competition was tight and the scores were very close: first – Walter and Natasha du Plessis (39 points), second – Kyle and Marelie Kelbrick (39 points), third place – Kevin Donaldson and Corne Janse van Rensburg (36 points).
Six months ago, the club lost a dear friend, husband and father in Luan Labuschagne. Oom Lappies from LJL Mining has decided to sponsor a lovely trophy for the Seeded Doubles League. This is in memory of Luan, who was very much part of the Dundee squash family.
“Thanks to Luan’s family for driving all the way from Bethal, to join us for this special prize-giving.”
Seeded Doubles:
The winner of this league and the first team to have their names on the trophy are Kevin Donaldson and Sunil Bhartu. Second – Andre Karsten and Weon du Plooy, third – Walter du Plessis and Graham Peddie. The squash club will be painting the club this week and this will lead to limited availability of courts.
“Please make use of the bookings board to avoid disappointment.”
The Club Championships will also start on November 4 and players are urged to enter and be paid up beforehand.
“This is the highlight of the year, so please support it.”
