Endumeni AC’s angling meeting reels in the big fish

The top three anglers for the day were Muhammed Ebrahim, Shabeer Pullen and Amith Pullen.

A monster barbel, tipping the scale at 8,9 kilograms, won Pravesh Gopie bragging rights at Endumeni Angling Club’s annual overnight club outing.

The competition took place over the weekend at Chelmsford Dam, Zones D and E. A total of 30 anglers were hosted by the club, which is affiliated to the Natal Fresh Water Angling Association (NFWAA).

Fishing was slow during the afternoon session, and anglers enjoyed a late evening braai. During this time no anglers were allowed to fish, but instead enjoyed the meal while socialising and reminiscing over the season’s achievements.

As some anglers returned to their spots, they were excited as fish took the bait while other anglers were still having their meals.

At the end of the successful outing, anglers recorded 117 points. Junior angler, Muhammed Ebrahim bagged the heaviest carp, weighing 4,04kg.

The top three anglers for the day were Muhammed Ebrahim with 33 points, Shabeer Pullen on 28 points and Amith Pullen with 18 points.

With one league to go, which will be fished this weekend, anglers are vying to secure the second position in the association. Defending champion, Itec Freespool has already claimed the title.

Club president, Shabir Ismail thanked anglers for their support throughout the season.
