Vryheid first rugby team truimphs over Pongola

Saturday afternoon started off slowly, with spectators making their way to the Vryheid Rugby Club.
The local first team prepared to take on Pongola’s first team in a friendly clash.
Lwazi Mdluli led the mentally prepared team onto the field.
After the kick off, the game quickly escalated when left wing, Zakes Dlamini made history by scoring the first try of the game under the new uprights of the club.
Dlamini scored another two tries during the match, with Ben Momina and Samkelo Sibiya scoring one try apiece, one of which Momina converted.

While the Vryheid team had a tough time against the powerful Pongola forward pack, the fiery backline and having a clear game plan resulted in the locals claiming a deserved win.
At the final whistle, Vryheid was ahead 41-30.
