Corrie conquers yet another Comrades

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this ultimate human race had to be cancelled this year

Cornelius ‘Corrie’ Pretorius is a well-known face when it comes to long-distance running.
Corrie managed to bring home a Robert Mtshali medal and a bronze back-to-back medal last year for the Comrades Marathon. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this ultimate human race had to be cancelled this year. However, this did not deter athletes from competing in the virtual ‘Race The Comrades Legends’ race which took place on Sunday, June 14. Corrie took to the road at 5am that morning and competed in the 21km virtual race.
This was his 16th Comrades and he runs for the Nedbank KZNA Running Club in Pietermaritzburg.
He said this was very difficult for him, since practicing for the Comrades this year was challenging due to the national lockdown, not to mention the cold weather. Well done, Corrie, the community is proud of you!
