VRYHEID: Successful start to new fishing season

The Vryheid Luremasters’ new fishing season for 2020/2021 began on August 1.
The most exciting part of the season opening is the challenge between club members for the first 3kg+ bass for the new season. This didn’t last long… and congratulations must go to Christo van Rheede van Oudtshoorn on his new personal best and also the first 3kg+ for 2020/2021, weighing in a beautiful bass of 4.14kg caught at a private dam.
The first league was hosted at a private club dam on August 8. It was a very cold morning and quite a bit of fish came out, but mostly small ones and one nice fish. Congratulations again to Christo van Rheede van Oudtshoorn on winning the first league with a very nice fish weighing in at 2.39kg.
The second league was also hosted at a private club dam on September 5. It was again a very cold and this time misty morning, but cleared up early. A total of 153 fish were weighed in. Congratulations to Michelle Cannon for winning the second league with her catch of 1.25kg.
The third league was hosted at Bivane Dam on September 19. It was a nice but very hot day. The fishing was hard and only 10 fish were weighed in for the day. Nevertheless a fun weekend, as it always is at Bivane. Congratulations to John Cannon for winning the third league with a very nice fish weighing in at 2.1kg.
The next league was held at Blood River on October 3. A big thank you to all Vryheid Luremaster members and congratulations on everyone’s catches thus far. All the fish were released safely. It’s going to be a good season, so happy fishing.
