Animals benefit from icy swim

The boys all paid an entrance fee that goes towards the Estcourt animal shelter and Khetani animal shelter in Winterton

The Drakensberg Boys Choir School was on holiday when the official Polar Bear swim took place recently.

Mama Bear (aka Ann Gray) was so kind to give up her Saturday afternoon to organise a special swim for the boys. 20 boys entered and another two decided at the last minute that they could not miss out on the fun.

They all paid an entrance fee that goes towards the Estcourt animal shelter and Khetani animal shelter in Winterton. A number of boys also assisted by bringing animal food back to school after the holidays. Seven of these boys enjoyed their swim “sooooooo” much that they ran around back to the start and swam a second time.

The boys who did not swim cheered on their colleagues from the dry banks. Well done, boys!

Thank you to Dragon Peaks for supplying delicious hot chocolate for the brave swimmers.
