Treverton dominates at the inter-schools athletics

Congratulations to Michaela Licen and Grace Drummond who dominated in the u14 age group by winning three events each

A team of 41 Treverton athletes made an early start at 5.15am on August 5 to participate in the Annual Invitational Athletics Meeting at Kingsway High School.

Some excellent results were achieved – 16 first places, 17 second places and 13 third places. Treverton was placed first overall out of the 16 schools with 197 points, a significant 31 points ahead of hosts Kingsway High School.

Congratulations to Michaela Licen and Grace Drummond who dominated in the u14 age group by winning three events each.

First place:
Michaela Licen – 100m, 200m and long jump. Grace Drummond – 400m, 800m and 1500m. Abby Heinecken – u14 discus and javelin. Bophelo Seoe – Open long jump and 200m. Gemma Hickinbotham – u15 javelin and shotput. The girls’ u15 team also won the 4 x 100m relay. Luzuko Mahlati – Open triple jump. Byron Barnard – u15 javelin. Thato Phakoe – u15 100m.

Second place:
Lily Baker – u14 800m, 1500m. Brooke Cunha-Johnson – javelin and discus. Bophelo Seoe – 100m and 400m.
Sethu Ngcobo – u16 200m and 400m. Luné Arlow – u16 javelin.
Noxolo Mhlanga – u15 400m. u14 girls’ – 4 x 100m. Open girls’ – 4 x 100m. Kyla Gogle – u15 javelin.
Thato Phakoe – u15 long jump. Durandt Uys – Open javelin. Gemma Hickinbotham – u15 discus. Abby Heinecken – u14 javelin.

Grace Drummond was one of 41 Treverton athletes who participated.

Third place:
Okuhle Nkosi – u14 long jump. Kobus Kooy – u14 discus. Bophelo Seoe – Open high jump. Luné Arlow – u16 discus and shotput. Danielle Warren – Open javelin. Kristi Minnaar – u14 high jump (still u13). Byron Barnard – u15 400m. Lefika Pule – u16 javelin. Gemma Hickinbotham – u15 100m. Sethu Ngcobo – u16 100m. Oscar Hapgood – u16 shotput. Noxolo Mhlanga – u15 1500m. Kyla Gogle – u15 discus. Thato Phakoe – u15 triple jump.
