Fun and excitement at Ladysmith High School sports day

The athletes showed that “they have what it takes”, giving it their all in each and every event they participated in

Ladysmith High School (LHS) saw an action-packed first week of school, with the athletics finals on Thursday last week (January 18).

The athletics meeting saw the learners dressed in their school sports attire, with one thing on their minds, which was to compete and come out on top.

Field events took place on the day, consisting of high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin and discus. The boys and girls in their different age groups worked their way around the ground to compete in the various events.

The athletes showed that “they have what it takes”, giving it their all in each and every event they participated in.

School mates cheered on the sweating athletes from the sidelines, urging them to do even better.

The crowd roared as each javelin flew through the air, or when someone catapulted themselves into the sand pit for long jump.

The LHS teachers made sure all the learners followed the rules at each event, and that all the distances and heights were correctly measured so as to tally up the points and see who the winning team was.
