Sizwe Khulekani Sikhosane (23) was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment when he was found guilty of the rape of a 44-year-old woman.
On February 3, 2012, the victim was walking towards her sister’s house in Vikhelani Street, Sithembile, Glencoe when she was grabbed and dragged into a shack by her attacker.
She tried to fight him off but he assaulted her, leaving her with a black eye as he tried to keep subdue her.
He pinned her down on the floor of his shack, where he raped her before falling asleep.
The victim then tried to escape, but her screams for help awoke her attacker, who then chased her.
Her screams also alerted her cousin to her plight, and together with other community members they detained him in a toilet.
Police then picked him up and placed him under arrest.
On September 5 he was convicted of rape and jailed for 10 years.
