When we read the news, either online or in the newspaper, we are usually attracted to the bad – stories of crime, murder, and in smaller communities, how the municipality doesn’t take its residents needs into consideration before making decisions.

Once in a while, however, something comes along that makes you stop and think.

It made me stop and question my own actions. Would I have done the same for someone I don’t even know?

The now universal concept of ‘Pay it Forward’ came to mind and got me thinking about how much we actually take for granted. Human beings as a species are always searching for something more. Isn’t it time we adopted the ‘Pay it Forward’ policy too?

So, here’s my challenge to our loyal readers, fellow Newcastillians:

Do something selfless for a stranger today, without seeking reward or recognition. Be it a smile, a random act of kindness or even paying for a small amount of groceries, your little act will have the potential to change someone’s life.
