Several trees in Hutten Heights, Signal Hill, Sunny Ridge and Aviary Hill have fallen victim to the devouring appetites of termites.

A resident, Melinda Becker feels this problem deserves immediate action from the municipality.

“I noticed a number of trees with termite infestations. Once termites get into the trees, they eat it from the inside out,” she explained.

She claimed the municipality had cut down healthy trees in its attempt to address the problem, but omitted to treat or remove some of the infested trees.

“There are also no trees being planted to replace those which have been removed. With all this pollution we do need trees,” emphasised Mrs Becker.

The municipality was contacted to determine how they would address this problem, but no comment was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
