Rotary turns R2 coins into R13 000

A R2 coin can go a long way...

The Dundee Rotary Club on Saturday proved that R2 can go a long way. Club members were at the Pick n Pay Centre where they approached shoppers and handed them a R2 coin.

Rotarians then encouraged shoppers to use the R2 towards the purchase of non-perishable food items.

“Many of the shoppers very kindly returned their R2 coin when handing over food items, saying it should be handed to someone else.

The Rotary Club would like to thank Pick n Pay and all those involved for their continued support of this very worthy project,” said Rotarian, Ken Vorster.

The food items were distributed to the nominated beneficiaries including Siphuthando Care Centre – Sibongile; Endumeni Senior Citizens Group – Glencoe; SAVF – Dundee and Glencoe and the SPCA.

The total value of food items collected was approximately R13 000.

“Rotary would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all shoppers who so generously contributed to such a worthy cause.”
