Rand Water confirms tragic incident claiming the life of an executive during Back to School Campaign

Rand Water has  confirmed a tragic incident at it’s Back to School campaign that occured at Zakarriya Park Community Centre, earlier today, Monday 29 January, that claimed the life of an executive.

In a statement Rand Water spokesperson, Makonosi Maroo, said that as an organisation they are shocked and devastated by the tragic passing of a treasured colleague during the incident.

Maroo said Rand Water’s policy prohibits the organisation from releasing the employee’s name without the family consent.

In a statement it was said that the water utility does not have further details but are working closely with investigators as they assess and investigate the incident. Further updates will follow.

“As an organisation we ask the media to respect the highly sensitive nature of this incident for our employeees and the family of the executive,” Maroo said.

Rand Water over the weekend announced the handing over of school shoes and uniforms  to 1 670 learners from eight schools to the value of R470 000 at Zakariyya Park Community Hall on Monday 29 January between 09:00 and 11:30.
