Citizen Leader Lab celebrating unity and appreciation

Business leaders derive benefit from this collaboration by gaining profound insights into the challenges faced by public schools,

Ubuntu lives in the way we see, support, and celebrate one another. This was truly reflected with Citizen Leader Lab’s Ubuntu celebration, which stood as an inspiring event of connection, reflection and joy, as participants shared their stories of growth and courage on the night of April 28 at Hidden Grace.

This was a journey of 12 months for these participants, giving the opportunity through the Leaders for Education programme to pair public school principals with business leaders from the private sector in an immersive leadership development experience.

Launced in 2024 with new content on African leadership, ethics, and wellness, Leaders for Education will now build on the impressive 13-year history of Partners for Possibility and deepen the impact in education.

The programme focuses on developing robust school leadership, which research shows is vital for school success.

Effective principals play a pivotal role in nurturing and supporting teachers, boosting morale, inspiring motivation, and fostering innovation.

This creates an environment that is conducive to learning and inspires positive changes within the education system as a whole. Furthermore, business leaders derive benefit from this collaboration by gaining profound insights into the challenges faced by public schools, while enhancing their own leadership skills beyond the confines of the boardroom.

And what a learning curve it was, facilitated by Philippa Swart, Learning Process Facilitator of the Circle.

After meaningful conversation reflecting on what was learned, the creation of a shared string of beads during the celebration night, came as a reminder that the smallest offering becomes beautiful when we bring it together.

With gentle hands, helping hearts, and soft laughter, each person added a bead as a symbol of love, gratitude and connection.

As the necklace grew, so did the feeling of unity and appreciation for every step walked together in this journey of Ubuntu.
