The Ikageng police are investigating two rape cases and theft that occurred on 30 June after a 26-year-old woman and 12-year-old teen girl were allegedly raped in separate incidents.
According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the Ikageng police spokesperson, a 26-year-old woman was walking from one of the pubs on Saturday at about 03:15 when she was grabbed by an unknown man.
‘He threatened to stab her if she screamed. He dragged her to the Ikageng stadium, pushed her to the ground, stripped her and raped her,’ said Trom.
After violating her, he walked her back to her home.
‘The victim’s sister opened for her. The victim chased the suspect away but he refused to go. He only ran away when she started screaming for help. ‘Later, when the victim’s sister wanted to use her laptop, she realised it was missing. The value of the laptop was R6 480. The suspect is unknown,’ said Trom.
In the second incident, a 12-year-old was allegedly raped by someone she knows in Baipei, Sonderwater at about 19:30.
Trom says the teen was walking to a tuck shop when she met up with the man.
‘He pulled her towards him and, the moment she resisted, he assaulted and overpowered her. He then dragged her to an area near Promosa, assaulted her again and ripped her clothes off her.
He then forced her to lie down and raped her before fleeing.’
