Upon coming back from work, Motseki raped the woman again.

The District Commissioner of Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Major General Suzette Pretorius  welcomed the 40 years imprisonment given to Ramphadidi Motseki (35) by the Potchefstroom Regional Court last week, for two counts of rape.

It transpired during the trial that he had drinks with the victim, aged 43, at Marikana informal settlement, Promosa in December 2021.

The woman left to go home and Motseki followed her. Just after the woman had entered her house, Motseki pushed the door and forcefully gained entry to the house. He undressed the woman and raped her, then fell asleep immediately thereafter.

He woke up the following morning and  threatened the victim before leaving for work. Upon his return from work, he raped the victim again.

According to Dr Kenneth Kaunda District SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Amogelang Malwetse, the matter was reported to the police a week later. Motseki was arrested three days later his bail was successfully opposed. He has been in custody since his arrest.

“The sentences of 20 years imprisonment for each count of rape, will run independently, ” said Amogelang Malwetse.
