A joint effort between Potchefstroom police and the Military Police was held on Friday, 25 November 2022, in an effort to ensure that the festive season is as safe as possible in Potchefstroom.

The operation was led by DPC (Major General Rashaad Ryno Naidoo ), Brigadier Steven Moodley  (Station Commander SAPS Potchefstroom) and the Head of Visible Policing of SAPS Potchefstroom Colonel TJ Mahlangu accompanied by the Chairperson of the Potchefstroom Community Police Forum Mrs Trudie Botha.

The Major General encouraged members on parade to remain positive and focused during the festive period. He also encouraged all present to make sure there are more boots on the ground during the festive period.

Additionally, in his address, he stated that both the community and the police should be pleased to see each other. “We need to manage the perception of crime and in doing so we would be able to create a safe and secure environment for our community,” he said.

Additionally, the General recommended that police patrols be enhanced at malls, banks, ATMs, shopping complexes, and SASSA paypoints to ensure the safety of the community.

As a result of the operations, no crimes were reported.

For this we are truly grateful to all the role-players that were involved.

‘To our community we wish to assure you of our commitment to service and creating a better tomorrow,” Brigadier Steven Moodley said.
