Hijackers plans go up in smoke
Five men were arrested for hijacking a British American Tobacco truck.
According to Honeydew SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs, the hijacking took place in Magaliesburg.
“A Fidelity Security Group intelligence team member noticed the vehicle on Beyers Naudé Drive and requested back-up. Ironically the vehicle was travelling towards Honeydew police station when it was spotted,” said Jacobs.
The Fidelity member pulled the vehicle over and Honeydew police tactical response team members assisted with the arrests. Cigarettes estimated at R80 000 as well as a stolen firearm were recovered at the scene.
Jacobs said the firearm was linked to a Florida house robbery in May.
