Community helps themselves
Blairgowrie residents have taken matters into their own hands in ensuring their community is well looked after.

Blairgowrie Community Association committee member and resident, Gail Jelly said residents had taken the initiative to make their community look beautiful and had started projects to improve the area. “We have been given approval by City Parks. The residents of Blairgowrie fully support the initiative to beautify the suburb. They have sponsored trees and money to ensure the community looks the way it does,” said Jelly.
According to the chairperson of the association, Jed Kemery, Blairgowrie was known to be plagued by crime, and it was important for the community to become involved in improving the image of the area. “Some residents expressed their concern over the long-term maintenance of the initiative, but I am happy to announce there is a monthly maintenance plan that will be put in place. We have a committee of committed people,” said Kemery.
Jelly said, “We have spent the past two years recreating the community. On Arbor Day we had trees planted with the help of some businesses in Blairgowrie.”
