Boskruin Karate kids excel

The members of Norman Robinson's Dojo in Boskruin did not return empty handed after they participated in the JKS Karate Championships.

The Norman Robinson’s Dojo in Boskruin took part in the recent annual Japan Karate Shotokai (JKS) Inter-club competition at the Friendson JKS Karate Centre in Blue Hills,

Kyalami.

It was the first time it was held in Blue Hills; previously it was held at the Wits Teachers’ College.

Norman Robinson’s Dojo administrator Kim da Silva said the standard of karate at the competition was excellent. The competitors ranged from the ages of eight to sixteen.

All together 13 fighters from Norman Robinson’s Dojo took part, and they achieved a few first places.

The results were:

  • Dean Gray, third place kumite, first kata
  • David da Silva, third place kumite l Joshua da Silva, first place kumite, first place kata
  • Reamogetswe Mthembu,
  • second place kumite, third place kata
  • Delano Moonsammy, second place kumite, 2second place kata
  • Simon Boulet Wells, first place kumite, second place kata
  • Rahil Maharaj, third place kumite l Nikara Maharaj, first place kumite, first place kata
  • Rehal Maharaj, third place kata
  • Tian Smit, third place kumite, third place kata.
