Boswell Circus comes to town

In a tent and not camping - the Boswell Circus is in town.

The Brian Boswell Circus has arrived in Cresta, one of its 120 annual destinations.

The 50 circus members, whether in the ring or behind the scenes, have been working together since 8 October at the Cresta venue to entertain Joburgers, and jugglers, stunt horse riders, perky poodles, tight rope walkers, acrobats and clowns are on offer. Over the years, artists have accumulated skills and exercised their acts repeatedly, said Stanley Bower, AKA Carlo the Clown. The Boswell Circus is based in Pietermaritzburg, but it is mostly on the road.

Ringmaster Georgina Boswell said, “Trained horses and ponies prance into the ring with trainers and poodles delight the crowds with their energetic antics. Come and meet the cheeky goats and friendly alpaca called Nuzzle.”

As far as the artists go, an acrobatics team called Quantum Leap perform aerial acrobatics that will keep visitors on the edge of their seats.

The circus, situated on the corner of Republic Road and Judges Avenue, will run until 3 November.
