The matriculants gathered for an evening that will last long in their memories after their final school year. Inspired by the theme: Kaleidoscope – Colour outside the lines, the evening celebrated each young person’s individuality and the unique colour they bring to the world.

Teacher and organiser Sonja Weideman said the evening was a success, and that learners would carry the memories with them for a lifetime. “We wanted the evening to be more than a beautiful occasion; we wanted it to be a celebration of who they are and an encouragement to embrace the future with courage and confidence,” said Weideman. “The message behind our theme was simple: The world doesn’t need another copy. It needs your colour.”

She said planning the farewell involved months of preparation, creativity, co-ordination, and attention to detail. “Each year, I develop a theme specifically.

I believe every class has its own identity and deserves an experience that reflects it. The programme ran as planned. My experience in organising matric dances has taught me the importance of anticipating potential delays and building flexibility into the schedule so that the evening can flow as smoothly as possible.”

Weideman added that the most memorable moment of the evening was when the learners arrived and saw the venue for the first time. The awe and excitement in their eyes made every hour of planning and preparation worthwhile.

“I put a great deal of thought into each year’s theme because I want it to be meaningful to that particular group of learners,” she said. “With the Class of 2026, the message was about embracing their individuality, recognising how far they have come, and having the courage to leave their own mark on the world.

I am particularly proud of the thought behind the theme and the opportunity to create an experience specifically for the Class of 2026.”
