Witkoppen Road a death trap
A section of Witkoppen Road collapsed earlier this year and has been left unattended for several months.
Randburg resident Jacqui Grigg regards Witkoppen Road which is currently under construction, as a deathtrap.
The road has been under construction for several months after a section of the road in Douglasdale collapsed earlier this year.
”The road is a hazard to users. It is extremely dangerous to drive or walk passed this section of the road – especially as the road is also used by big trucks that take up a lot of space,” Grigg said. “I assume the Johannesburg Roads Agency will only act quickly after a big accident happens.”
Grigg believes the road is a clear example of the agency’s lack of public service delivery.
When contacted, the agency’s spokesperson Mosa Makhalima said, “We are aware of the problem. This road is however not maintained by us, but by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport. The department is aware and has properly barricaded the road until it is fixed.”
