Football coach’s life-long passion

A retired man was looking for something to do and now he coaches football, his life long passion.

Randburg Football coach Mike Hughes calls himself a football fanatic.

He has been coaching football at the Brazilian Soccer School at the Randburg Sports Complex since April. “I retired in February last year and I looked for something to do,” he said. “When I saw what coach David Sham does, I saw a system that I believe absolutely works. The importance at our school is to focus on the individual, the necessary skills and the technical ability of the players. We want to give them confidence wherever they choose to play one day.”

Hughes has been involved in football all his life and for him it is not an interest but a passion. ”It is really the people’s game. You do not need expensive equipment and it is a game where you can reach your best.”
