ATKV presents writing course
By giving three days of your time, you can be the next winner of the best teenage drama script.
Young up and coming playwrights should sharpen their pencils.
The Afrikaanse Taalkultuurvereniging in Ferndale will host a writing school from 13 to 15 March at Shumba Valley Lodge near Lanseria International airport. The presenters will discuss theme, characterising and storylines among other things. During practical work sessions, attendees will create new texts.
Dr Pierre-André Viviers who won an award for best new teenage drama script in 2012, will lead the course. Other presenters will include Johann Smith, best new teenage drama script in 2008 and 2011 and script writer at 7de Laan, and co-writer of the film Leading Lady and the youth drama Sterlopers, Tina Kruger.
Guest speakers will be Schalk Schoombie, winner of the Smeltkroes prize at Aardklop for best new drama text, head of the drama department at the University of Pretoria, Prof. Marie-Heleen Coetzee and scriptwriter of Egoli and Villa Rosa, Christo Compion.
The closing date for entries is 14 February. Only 30 course attendees can be accommodated.
