City Power’s reaction to dumping

City Power gives red light to dumper of cable theft pamphlets.

City Power has condemned the dumping of pamphlets at a house in Blairgowrie.

The pamphlets conveyed information about cable theft. In the article, City Power pamphlets dumped, week ending 7 February, Blairgowrie resident Peter Mouton found almost 20 pamphlets at his address. “It is now unclear which residents received the notice and who did not,” said Mouton.

City Power spokesperson Sydney Mphahlele said this behaviour was unacceptable. “City Power has started to talk to its service providers to dissuade them from repeating this.”

City Power and its Risk Security Management currently engaged the Blairgowrie community by creating awareness about cable theft in their neighbourhood. Community members volunteered to distribute the pamphlets.

“By doing so, City Power is assisted by service providers who distribute pamphlets in the suburb. The purpose is to encourage the community to get involved and assist City Power in combating cable theft by reporting incidents of cable theft particularly in Blairgowrie which is one of the hotspots of cable theft.”

The pamphlets list two numbers where residents can report cable theft.
