Pipeline repairs underway

The water supply might get disrupted again, but this will be to fix the problem in Malanshof and Fontainebleau.

Residents of Malanshof and Fontainebleau who have been plagued by water supply problems for years will now have a steady flow of water.

Work has commenced on the replacement of the aging infrastructure. Pilot holes for the identification of pipes have already appeared in Silverpine Avenue and in a few instances the new water pipes are already being laid.

Work has commenced in River Road and will continue in Philip Le Roux Street. This project cannot be done without interruptions to water supply, but the contractors said they would try to keep interruptions to a minimum.

The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of September. Johannesburg Water and the contractors have appointed resident Priscilla Cillié as community liaison officer to help keep communications open between the residents and the contractors, in the case of unforeseen problems or delays, or queries regarding the project. Cillié will establish an up-to-date database whereby residents will be informed about the latest status on the pipe works.
