Recreation centre draws high
Blairgowrie Recreation Centre’s games of bridge are attracting many residents.
There may be a music school and belly dancing classes, but the Blairgowrie Recreation Centre’s card and board games are the most popular activities.
“The Tuesday and Wednesday bridge group is the most popular activity, along with the Senior Circle’s card and board games,” said Blairgowrie Recreation Centre facility manager Annamarie Rabie.
“Art is the next most popular activity, it includes both watercolour and oil painting.”
The centre has about 1 000 members and offers activities such as ballroom, folk, Latin American and zumba dancing, ballet, box-e-cise, gymnastics, pilates, yoga, aikido, karate, badminton, chess, philately and drama.
Membership at the centre is free although some classes must be paid for. Activities run from Monday to Friday from 7am to 10pm.
