Pilot project set to change soccer
The Randburg sports club is fast becoming one of the best.
The Randburg Football Club is introducing a unique development programme hosted by former Bafana Bafana player Eric Tinkler.
Tinkler’s programme is a South African first as it is the only programme developed specifically for children aged between six and 12. “I have developed the programme from my experiences of over 16 years playing in Italy, England, Portugal and Holland,” said Tinkler. “I think there is a need to focus on grassroots development in South African football, hopefully this programme will go a long way to address this need.”
Tinkler decided to run the programme at the club because his son played there. “This is essentially a pilot programme. It contains specific age appropriate skills development in all areas of football with a high emphasis on repetition. We look forward to rolling out the programme to more clubs once the pilot has been concluded.”
All new and existing club players from various teams will benefit from Tinkler’s experience and the exciting new skills development and training programme he has designed.
“We welcome all new members to become a part of our tireless drive for excellence in football,” said the club’s chairman Gordon Naidoo.
“This is in addition to our earlier announcement of a team of world-class coaches from Barcelona who will be hosting football camps at the club at the end of March. We encourage parents to urge their children to develop their football acumen with the club as we offer the best facilities available.”
Those who wish to join the club are welcome to inquire about details of registration dates.
