Domestic Watch season
FONTAINEBLEAU - Domestic workers are invited to the monthly domestic watch meeting which takes place at the Fontainebleau Community Church.
Fontainebleau Community Church will host the monthly Domestic Watch on 18 March, inviting all domestic workers to attend.
The topic for this domestic watch meeting is ‘Holiday Season’.
According to Penny Steyn the reason this topic is important to speak about is because many residents will be away on Easter holiday leaving the domestic workers to take care of their homes.
“This lesson is filled with very important and relevant information specifically to any holiday season when crime tends to at its peak. So it is a lesson for all in order to take serious note of what to do and what not to do during this time,” said Steyn.
According to Steyn during the holidays homes are in jeopardy, employees are vulnerable and those travelling must know how to look after themselves.
“It is important for the employers to empower their staff on how to take care of themselves and their homes in their absence. Often our homeowners do not know what to instruct their staff to do or not do when they are away. The meeting will then address such issues and also remind them of all essential and some very clever tricks to outwit criminals that are determined to break into their homes.”
The meeting will be at 12pm at the church hall. Employers are encouraged to let their domestic workers attend the meeting.
