House robberies are an ongoing problem is Sector 1, according to Community Policing Forum Chairperson Greg Pearce.
He said people are targeted, especially between 5.30pm and 9pm, when they come home from work.
The offenders wait at gates, often in the dark, or follow residents and as the resident opens the gate, they confront them with knives or guns.
Usually the offenders do not enter the house but take the residents’ cellphones and laptops while still in the driveway, then they leave.
Pearce asked residents to be aware of people around their premises or following them home.
Areas in Sector 1 include Boskruin, Bromhof, Bush Hill AH, Glen Dayson AH, Hunter’s Hill AH, Kelly Ridge, Northgate, North Riding AH, Northwold, Randpark Ridge, Sonneglans, Strijdompark and Sundowner.
