Foxy bowling
BLAIRGOWRIE - The Old Partonian Bowling Club hosted their annual Sheila Fox bowling day.
The Old Parktonian Bowling Club celebrated Sheila Fox day in high spirit despite the gloomy weather on 5 March, but had to postpone the bowling matches for 19 March.
“We have been celebrating this day since 2005 after the death of Sheila Fox, a bowling club member who died of cancer. Each year we celebrate a day in her memory,” explained the club’s committee member Eileen Breakey.
Breakey stated that 28 teams took part in the bowling matches. “It was a fun afternoon with lots of bowling, laughter and wonderful music. The afternoon started well, and ended with scrumptious snacks, some tea and a prize giving for all 112 players,” said Breakey.
Proceeds from the entry fees were given to Pathways Roodepoort, a non-government organisation which caters for children with serve disabilities. Each player brought an item in support of the organisation. Pathways Roodepoort collected baby clothes, toiletries, nappies and other items which will help them cater for the children.
