Neighbourhood watch arrested criminals
DOUGLASDALE - The sector 1 neighbourhood watch and Douglasdale police do a successful operation.
The neighbourhood watch of Douglasdale Sector 1 Community Policing Forum, held a joint operation with the Douglasdale Police Station recently.
The forum’s chairperson Margaret Van Zwieten said the operation aims to recruit new members to become a part of the neighbourhood watch, the Whatsapp group, in order to improve security in the community.
The operation yielded 14 arrests of illegal migrants squatting opposite Jacaranda Road, in an open veld in Olivedale, possession of drugs and stolen goods.
“We want people to know of the operation we do so they are well informed on the increase in crime and to know how they could help also us achieve a safe community,” explained van Zwieten.
She added that they encourage people to be involved and be alert of what is happening in their community. “Anyone is welcome to join and help in any way they can.”
