Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge recently helped revamp and refurbish Sandrift Primary School, near Brits.
The Grade 9 pupils were camping in the area during their annual school camp and each pupil spent about three hours helping at the primary school as part of the camp’s emphasis on community outreach.
Since 2012 Trinityhouse has assisted the school by painting classrooms, sanding floors, painting burglar bars, putting store rooms in order, refurbishing soccer goals and planting a vegetable garden.
At the camp the Grade 9s worked in groups of about 20 pupils each and spent three hours helping at the school on a rotational basis.
“This camp left an imprint on our Grade 9 pupils,” said Christo de Wit, principal for Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge.
“It was an experience that gave our pupils a taste of what community outreach is all about and we are so proud of them.”
Senior Deputy for Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge Willem van Zyl said the pupils worked “incredibly hard” in hot conditions and he hoped to continue the school’s relationship with Sandrift Primary School as well as help other needy schools.
