A resident has provided an explanation of why the recess on Rabie Street formed.
The recess lies between 7th Avenue and Percy Road, Fontainebleau, and its formation was a mystery to the Randburg Sun, as one day the road was flat, and the next, it was not, without potholes or road damage being present prior to the change.
The Johannesburg Roads Agency could not provide an explanation.
A week later resident Rod Cramd phoned the newspaper, claiming that a burst water pipe caused the recess, and he provided photos in support of his argument.
