Randburg residents get acquainted with police work
FERNDALE – Line dancing, parades and Josie Field entertains at Ferndale High School.
Randburg police station and its affiliate community policing forums held their annual open day at Ferndale High School on 31 May.
Some of the exciting activities taking place on the day included a makeshift crime scene which could be investigated with the help of forensic detectives, a drugs and illegal substances display, face painting and much more. Safety and security demonstrations were also conducted.
Attendees were entertained by the likes of Josie Field, Jason Hartman, The Randburg Clinic School Marimba band, and, to everyone’s delight, the Randburg police marching band.
The aim of having the open day was to better acquainted Randburg residents with the hardworking policemen and -women entrusted to protect them and their families.
Randburg Community Policing Forum (CPF) member, Conrad Fick, said he would like to extend the CPF’s sincere gratitude to the sponsors of the event.
“Firstly, we would like to thank Pick n Pay Brightwater Commons for sponsoring the meat for the curry and rice. Their team has always been there to support us,” said Fick. “Secondly, our thanks goes to Dawn of Expectations Party Shop for sponsoring cakes for our tea garden. Lastly, we would like to thank the Fontainebleau Community Church for supplying us with some tables. Without that, we would have been stranded.”
