Advertisers open their hearts to orphans

NORTHRIDING – National Advertising Bureau helps to build homes at Mother of Peace Community.

At the Mother of Peace Community in Northriding, lost, orphaned or disabled children can find the shelter, food and love that they so desperately need in order to grow.

But maintaining a home such as this is a daunting task for its caregivers – Val Barbeito and Pat Prinsloo. “As a non-profit organisation, we rely solely on help from the community,” says Berbeito.

The National Advertising Bureau (NAB) based in Craighall Park has chosen the Mother of Peace Community as one of their charities for a corporate social investment project, and has already helped to build more homes for these children on the property.

The company donated R20 000 to Mother of Peace recently, which was used to build a home for two of the older orphan boys being taken care of there. Plumbing and electricity were also installed.

“We’re very excited and proud to be helping the Mother of Peace orphanage again this year,” said John Bowles, joint manager at NAB. “We have always believed that giving back to those in need is a vital social responsibility and an important part of our long-term strategy.”

Bowles said that the company had chosen Mother of Peace because of their amazing commitment and love to the orphans. “They are truly angels helping those in need right here in Johannesburg’s northern neighbourhoods!”

Barbeito expressed sheer appreciation for NAB’s generosity. “It’s fantastic to be able to rely on people like these. First National Bank sponsored a solar geyser toward the home too, and I am utterly grateful for these donations.”
