Here are a few proactive crime prevention points and advice from Linden Neighbourhood Watch’s Fareed Hoosen and SAPS:
1. When leaving for work or to the shops, always ensure that the house alarm is armed, including the beams.
2. Always ensure that the gate closes completely before driving away from your home.
3. Make sure your phone is on incase the armed response company calls you for an alarm activation.
4. When out of your car, always remove ALL valuables.
5. Make sure that your vehicle is completely locked before walking away. Check the doors physically.
6. Be alert to your surroundings and possible suspicious cars or people.
7. Call in anything suspicious immediately to Police, armed response and the neighborhood watch.
