RANDBURG – Randburg Management District is going all out to provide service to retail, commercial and property owners of this city.

The non-profit organisation is tasked with managing open public spaces which are within the designated boundaries of the city centre.

Tina White, City Improvement District coordinator says, “RMS Corporate Solutions, manages what is known as the Randburg Management District (RMD), which is a legislated City Improvement District (CID). This means that over and above the services, rates and taxes of City of Joburg, property owners within the boundaries of a legislated CID pay monthly levies for the management of the open public space of a CID.”

During their weekly walk, which is done to monitor the city centre, precinct officer Vish Naidoo pointed out areas that have been repaired and those that still need to be repaired at the Randburg Square Mall.

“Our task is to maintain and secure open public spaces in Randburg city centre and that includes repairing broken tiles or asking City Council to fix areas that belong to them. Every Thursday, we walk around the city centre to ensure that – among other things – there is no noise pollution from the retailers and that street traders are working within their demarcated areas. We have security guards who patrol the area and notify us if there is any suspicious behaviour and we inform the police,” explains Naidoo.

There are 22 cleaners who clean the city centre; 16 security guards patrol during the day and four patrol at night. White pointed out that the Randburg Management District’s caravan parked at the Randburg Square Mall, is always available to assist people with information.

“We have an armed security car which is available 24/7 to patrol the area and ensure that everything is in order,” concludes White.
