A taxi hit a car, a bus and an OUTsurance pointswoman on the corner of Beyers Naudé and CR Swart drives, Sundowner, on 8 September.

According to Metro Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, 11 people were injured, and the taxi driver failed a breathalyser test and will soon be charged with drunken driving, and reckless and negligent driving.
Mthunzi Mthombeni, an eyewitness and partner to the pointswoman who was hit, explained that at around 7.05am a taxi driving in a northerly direction along Beyers Naudé Drive in the emergency lane, hit a bus that was coming from the opposite direction and turning.

The taxi then swerved right and hit the pointswoman, then the car.
The Jaws of Life had to be used to rescue the driver of the car.
Minnaar said that within the taxi, there were three serious injuries and six minor injuries.
The driver of the car and the pointswoman were also seriously injured.
Minnaar added that the taxi driver was arrested, and he failed a breathalyser test.
He was taken to Honeydew Police Station, soon to face the charges.
Four OUTsurance pointsmen were on scene and looking glum.
Especially, as an hour and a half after the accident, Mthombeni had to direct traffic on the corner with a new partner.
A resident on scene, Cameron Jodi Rodey, said that another accident had occurred on the corner the day before.
This, because the traffic lights had been out for a number of days.
