Taxi driver killed by taxi
NORTH RIDING – Taxi driver pushes his lost tyre across the road, is hit by another taxi.
A taxi driver was hit and killed by another taxi, while pushing a tyre across Northumberland Avenue, North Riding, in the morning of 3 November. The man suffered heavy internal bleeding and died, despite Netcare 911’s attempts to resuscitate him. Netcare 911 and Metro Police on scene explained that the deceased was driving his taxi in a southerly direction when his back right tyre “came out” between Olievenhout Avenue and Honeydew Road West.
The tyre rolled across the road. The deceased pulled over and collected his tyre. As he was pushing the tyre across the road back to his taxi, another taxi, driving in a northerly direction, hit him. Metro Police said that a case of reckless and negligent driving would soon be opened at Honeydew Police Station.
