RA paves its window with beauty
VANDIA GROVE – Resident's Association plants flowers on curbs.
Curbs are being made beautiful in Vandia Grove, Beverley Gardens, Bryanston Ext 5 and O’Summit. This is because the Vandia Gardens Resident’s Association (VGRA) is embarking on its ‘Pavement Special’ project.
Inspired by how the Bordeaux South Resident’s Association keeps its suburb attractive, VGRA Committee Member Donna Sipman created designs of how curbs should look in the VGRA’s four suburbs.
Having started near the end of October, four curbs are now decorated with decorative stones, walkway stones and flowers including the agapanthus, tulbaghia and gazania, and plants including flaxes and dietes. “The VGRA decided that we need to make the area more beautiful for the Summer project,” Sipman said. “We had so much enthusiasm, we will continue with the project.”
The now beautified curbs are in Vandia Grove on the corner of Westview Drive and Roux Avenue, and the corner of Westview Drive and Gaunt Avenue. “This is the entrance to the suburb, so it is a window to the suburb,” Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood said at the first corner. “Guys coming past will think that they want to be here.” He added that the curbs will “look great” when the flowers bloom.
