Blaze of escape

LINDEN – Motorist flees the scene after crashing his car into a pavement in Linden.

A young man was seen crashing his silver Mercedes C Class vehicle into a pavement on 19 January at 11am.

Head of the guarding division for Pexco Security and Training, Fareed Hoosen comments, ”The driver was seen driving at a massive speed, apparently 170km/h. It then crashed into the pavement on Anreith and 5th streets. The young male continued to drive the vehicle, with the flat tyre catching alight. He came to a stop at the corner of AnreithStreet and Mendelssohn Road.”

The driver left the vehicle, locking it with the keys and sprinted up Anreith Street where he caught a taxi.

According to Hoosen, Linden Police were contacted, ”We [Pexco] want to ensure whether the car has been stolen or not. At present we are still waiting for the police to arrive on scene,” said Hoosen.

“The vehicle belongs to a company [Solutions CC] in Milner Road; it has closed down. It [the car] has not been registered as stolen. JMPD have been contacted to remove the vehicle,” commenteds Captain Alex Vermaak of Linden Police.
