Suspended Pikitup MD has been cleared
JOBURG – Pikitup managing director Amanda Nair will resume her duties after she was cleared of all charges of awarding a tender to a firm that is implicated in fraud and corruption.
Pikitup managing director Amanda Nair has been re-instated to her position after she was suspended for her alleged role in the awarding of a tender.
This was revealed at a press briefing by City of Johannesburg member of the management committee responsible for environment and infrastructure services, Matshidiso Mfikoe on 10 February.
Mfikoe told reporters gathered at the Pikitup head offices that the bidding process of the tender was initiated prior to the appointment of Nair as MD of Pikitup, adding that it was processed following normal supply chain management procedures.
“Nair was suspended as provided for in Pikitup’s policy framework, for the duration of the enquiry. The enquiry was presided over by Advocate P Pauw SC who had been appointed from the panel selected by the board and a lengthy enquiry ensued in which evidence was presented – Nair was cleared of all charges,” said Mfikoe.
Nair was suspended last year after Pikitup’s Board of Directors decided to take disciplinary action against her for her alleged role in the awarding of a tender worth R263 million. She was alleged to have awarded the three-year Yellow Plant tender to Aqua Transport Plant Hire, a firm that is implicated in fraud and corruption.
After been cleared of all charges, Nair will resume her duties on 12 February.
