Collaboration magic!

RANDBURG – Randburg Hoërskool choir and Deon Meiring team up for a night of entertainment.

Hoërskool Randburg’s hall was transformed on 21 March into an entertainment theatre for guests that came through for a night of good music and dining. The Randburg Hoërskool Choir consists of 86 members and had been preparing for their collaboration with Afrikaans singer Deon Meiring since last year October, according to their conductor Franco Prinsloo. “This collobaration has really given the choir members inspiration as they were able to work with one of their idols,” said Prinsloo

Meiring then treated the audience to some solo songs. Prinsloo also gave the audience some good entertainment with his solo performance of playing the piano and singing.Trudi van Wyk was the accompanist for the choir.

“I am extremely proud of the choir for what they have accomplished here tonight. If this is our start I can’t wait for the rest of the performances throughout the year. What this experience has taught the choir members is really big, it has helped them with social skills, they are just flourishing and their

self-confidence is growing and I get to see this which is amazing,” added Prinsloo.

Guest Hilde Burger said that it was great to see how music can bring together people from different backgrounds, ages and race. “Music has a way of uniting us. Children singing together can bridge divides we usually hide behind – great to see the joy on the face of the children,” commented Hilde.

Deon Meiring described the night as enjoyful, “I don’t normally do such collaborations, so I was a little scared at first, but I really enjoyed it and it was very exciting.”

Organiser of the event Norman Burger expressed his gratitude to everyone that helped with putting it together. “I an extremely happy with how tonight has gone. It has gone to what was planned and I am glad for the wonderful committee that I worked with,” said Burger.

Here are some of the guests’ thoughts about the night:
