Randburg murder accused pleads not guilty
RANDBURG – A suspect found with a dead woman's body at the back of his bakkie pleads not guilty.
A man in his late 50s appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 24 March on charges of murder.
This after he allegedly tried to flee from local security patrollers on 22 March and the body of a dead woman in her late 40s was discovered at the back of his bakkie.
He pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, and told the court he has no warrant of arrest against him and has no previous convictions.
The suspect’s bail was opposed by the State for verification of his details and address.
A local security was patrolling that area of Douglasdale when they noticed two male suspects in an open area.
According to Provincial Police spokesperson Lieutenant Kay Makhubela, the security noticed that one of the men had a spade in his hand.
“The man with the spade dropped it on the ground and fled, the other suspect got into a bakkie and tried to flee,” said Lt Makhubela.
The case has been postponed to 31 March.
